About UsLa Fogata Mexican Restaurant & Catering is a proud three-generation, family-owned restaurant that has been serving the community since 1977. It all began when Doña Maria, born and raised in Mexico City, opened the doors with a vision rooted in family, tradition, and the joy of gathering over home-cooked meals. Growing up surrounded by Sunday brunches and lively celebrations, she brought that same warmth and authenticity to every dish.
In 1980, Doña Maria and her husband Don Vram’s son, Jack, joined the family business by opening a small restaurant on Van Nuys Blvd. Just two years later, thanks to the growing support of loyal customers, La Fogata moved into a larger location just a block away in Sherman Oaks—where we remain today. Jack has continued his parents’ legacy, staying true to their philosophy of serving quality, homestyle Mexican food at fair prices, always with a smile. |
The name La Fogata, meaning campfire in Spanish, was inspired by Don Vram’s love for exploring the mountains of Mexico, where he would camp, cook over an open flame, and share stories under the stars. That same spirit of warmth, tradition, and togetherness lives on in every meal we serve.
In 2010, Vram Alian, the third generation, officially joined the family business—but his roots go back much further. From an early age, he could be found running around the kitchen, helping wherever he could, washing dishes, and soaking up knowledge from our longtime chef, Carlos. Today, Vram brings fresh energy to La Fogata while honoring the flavors and values passed down through generations. His passion for food, community, and family keeps the flame burning strong.
